Treatment Resistant Depression and Mental Illness

How well is your depression treatment working? Does it help a bit, but you still don't feel as if the darkness has lifted?  Perhaps you feel the treatment isn't working at all.  If so, you could have treatment-resistant depression, also called refractory depression.  As many as two-thirds of people with depression aren't helped by the first antidepressant they try. Up to a third don't respond to several attempts at treatment.

Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) can leave you feeling hopeless and discouraged.  Months or even years can go by without any relief.  When accompanied by Suicidal thoughts or feelings, this can be dangerous.

Treatment resistance can also be found in other mental health conditions such as anxiety, OCD, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD and Addiction.

Treatment Resistant Chronic Pain

Usually, pain signals stop after the cause of the pain resolves.   With chronic pain , nerve signals keep firing even after an injury has healed.   Traditional pain medicines such as opioids do nothing to alleviate the altered pain pathways-- in fact, they actually can make them worse!

The pain (as well as medications used to treat it) can interfere with daily life and alter your brain making you feel angry, depressed, anxious and frustrated.  All of these things, in turn, make your pain worse!

But if your pain treatment isn't working, don't give up! Our treatments, which include Ketamine Infusion, Cannabis Therapy, Lidocaine Infusion and non medicinal may work when other approaches did not.  Explore our individual treatments at the top of the page to learn more.
